Can Russell and Katie’s love survive through the family conflicts, heart-wrenching losses, and dark secrets that threaten to drown them both?

Haunted by the tragedies and mistakes of his past, Russell Carver has nonetheless managed to build a successful—if lonely—life for himself in his native Boston. But when he meets lovely, vivacious Katie Sweet, up from Atlanta to visit her grandmother, Russell’s stoic life is turned upside down and long-abandoned dreams are reawakened. Russell will do anything to protect and provide for this woman he adores, but neither of them can imagine the great waters of calamity that will soon rush against them and shake their fledgling relationship to its very foundation. As the nation is plunged from the Roaring Twenties into the Great Depression, destroying their hopes and dreams, will Russell and Katie find the strength to fight for what they cherish most?

Wow, what a book!! As you walk through this story with the characters, you experience many moments that fill you with joy, along with many others that can make you weep for the kind of sorrows that have the capability to either break one’s faith or drive them deep into the arms of our loving, Sovereign God. I was constantly reminded that though these characters are fictional, the faithfulness of God is not, even as we experience our own seasons where it is hard to see His loving hand. The love story between Katie and Russell is captivating and so well-written! This book kept me on my toes all the way to its sweet and satisfying conclusion! 10/10, and bring your tissues!

These two characters were by far my favorite. I am looking forward to the 3rd book in this series being available in audio. Love the narrator’s voice w/ all the different characters. And the author’s writing is speculator.

This story was addictive from its naive start through the many waters that attempted to flood the characters. It was like a soap opera in a good way, compelling me to do more household chores so I could find out how they could possibly make it through each trial and come out triumphant by the grace of God in the end. Hunt’s unapologetic presentation of the trials and joys of marriage and seeking to find God in the midst of headache was both inspiring and frequently brought tears to my eyes.

A stunning tale of enduring love through loss
