Returning home after a long sojourn abroad, Blu contemplates whether the time has finally come for her to put down some roots. Bryan, meanwhile, has been firmly rooted in one place and in one life for what now seems like far too long.

Close friends in college, they're now on the other side of thirty, reconnecting by chance, and revisiting whether the choices they made back then should have included each other.

This wasn't the greatest listen. I feel like the storyline was dragging and then at the end the story just cut off 🤦🏾‍♀️

Just ok

I’m thoroughly fed up with listening to disrespectful stories that masquerade as love. I had a strong urge to abandon the book multiple times, but I’ve always been determined to complete any book I start. I genuinely believe that Blu attempted to rationalize her actions based on race. However, as a Black woman, I must emphasize that wrong is wrong.

Triggering

I knew I would not finish this book when I heard a supposed black woman cheesily say “gangsta” like the word was out of place in her mouth. Sounded completely AI read. Not for me.

Did not finish

I enjoyed the book, The only thing was the pauses between chapters are too long, made me think I lost connection.

Good Read

I didn’t wanna like the storyline and to be honest I still don’t I don’t believe that adultery begets a fairytale ending. However, Nia knows how to write a book. The way that she will start to make you feel sympathetic to the antagonist is astounding. Definitely a book worth reading to the end stick it out and just enjoy the ride of the chaos along the way.

I can’t lie. I didn’t wanna like this storyline…but 10/10 writing drew me in
