A Gotrek Gurnisson Audiobook

Greywater Fastness – an industrial canker in the heart of Ghyran. Foundries and metalworks pump soot and fire endlessly into the skies of the Realm of Life. Dusty streets hide peril at every turn, and attacks by the Dreadwood Sylvaneth hamper the city’s relentless encroachment.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Gotrek takes on some of his earliest enemies again – the scheming skaven! It may be a different time, and a different world, but the legendary Slayer hasn't lost his knack for dealing with vermin.

THE STORY

Gotrek Gurnisson barges into Greywater Fastness seeking answers as to why his Fyreslayer rune is mysteriously waning. But finding them in the stronghold's clogged and blackened arteries may prove far more difficult than first thought, and with skaven warlocks building something deep underground – something that will cement their place in skavendom forever – Gotrek begins to wonder if he might instead find that which has eluded him these past ages – his doom.

The story is not about Gotrek. It is about the random chick who follows him again. Gotrek is not the hero, he is just there to move the story along.

The voice acting is great.

l thought the way the demon was defeated was unlikely. A verminlord killed by a normal sword ? Aside from that I enjoyed the story

Gortex performance

Gotrek played too small of a role in this story, in my opinion.

I get that Gotrek has always been written as a character that is witnessed by a co-lead, but in this novel it feels like Gotrek really takes the backseat.

Where was Gotrek?

As someone who came in to this characters books much later than most other people, but since finding them has literally devoured every single novel that I can get my hands on that has an audible version since I am blind, this one falls near the bottom of the pile for me, unfortunately still an absolutely great book but when you have an entire series of in my opinion, absolutely great or amazing books. It’s really really easy to tell when the quality dips, I do not think it is the author‘s fault read many of his other books, and he is a good writer, especially for black library, the main issues I have with this book is it seems like we are back to the same old thing yet again with everyone’s favorite slayer… I thought we were making progress when soul slayer came out… And for those who haven’t read, I won’t spoil any of the book, but it had some surprising things happen some that I personally do not like and I’m actually still aggravated about, then we get light slayer… This is also in my opinion one of the lower end books in the series, the new companion was not compelling and our good friend Gotrek seems to have regressed quite a bit since the last book in my opinion, as far as personality goes,. I guess I just feel like they need to quit coming up with just random encounters. And actually do more with his overarching story… I mean, if you go all the way back to Caven slayer it led into Demon slayer which led into dragon slayer so on and so forth, and while they were different each time they still kind of felt connected, I felt like the new Age of Sigma books had that going for them up until soul slayer and then it feels like they’ve dropped the story again because they’re not sure what they want to do or where they’re going with it and it’s just getting frustrating especially since this is one of my all-time favorite fantasy characters. Also felt like. Gotrek was far far weaker than he has been in a while in a novel and honestly very little to no explanation, as of why there are some tidbits in the story that I don’t wanna spoil on review, that could be a clue, but it was just not enough to explain it in my opinion. like I said still a good book because well it has our favorite slayer in it, but I’m hoping the next one can really pick up the story and the quality a bit because if this keeps up, then I may actually have to just pretend that the books ended at a certain point because I am definitely not happy with the direction they are taking these current novels.

A good book, but I think black library doesn’t really know what to do with Gotrek any more or the very least at the moment.

while i don't think it's the best one, and they keep replacing gotrek's side kicks, it is still a good book. a lot of humor until the end where it gets creepy. a lot of fun watching the main characters and skaven both thinking the other side are a bunch of geniuses.
