In the dystopian world of The Order, lies, betrayal, and secrets become the twisted threads weaving the tapestry of Forest Blackburn's tumultuous existence.

Once a noble Untouchable, she now stands as a martyr, an unwilling symbol of defiance in a world governed by privilege and oppression. As she grapples with the impending loss of self-control and the enigmatic forces that threaten to unravel her, life spirals into a chaotic dance of power and manipulation.

Forest's struggle intensifies as she endeavors to shield the Unfortunates, those who once bowed at her feet, from the encroaching darkness orchestrated by the leaders of her society. The impending shadows of those in control loom ever closer, casting doubt on her ability to maintain her precarious position above the tumultuous waters of societal upheaval.

Forced into an unholy alliance with the very person responsible for her life's disintegration, Forest finds herself entangled in a dangerous game where every move could be her last. As she confronts her own demons and battles against the relentless onslaught of external threats, the line between friend and foe blurs, leaving her teetering on the brink of collapse.

In this dark, sexy, and twisted second installment, the quest for freedom becomes a double-edged sword, threatening to either save those Forest loves or obliterate everything in its relentless path. As alliances shift, secrets unravel, and desires entwine, Forest must navigate the treacherous landscape of her existence, wondering if the need for freedom will be the salvation of those she cherishes or the harbinger of their ultimate demise. Will she emerge from the shadows triumphant, or will the demons that haunt her prove to be an inescapable force, dragging her down into the abyss?

The stakes are higher, the dangers more profound, and the game has only just begun.

How is this series not talked about!? Ugh book 3 and 4 is not out on audio yet.😭

I'm obsessed! Only wish this was recorded in Duet not dual, that would have put this over the top! The performance was still good.

Well worth the credit!

Great Plot

Essentially a post apocalyptic, deeply classist society with a vampire-sequel twist. I liked it enough to keep listening and purchasing. However, there is some deeply redundant language use throughout both the first and second books that drive me crazy. Characters “silently” say, speak, etc. though they are clearly verbalizing for others to hear. Some additional mis-use of language where the intent and the actual meaning of the word choice don’t align. It’s something a good editing sweep should have flushed out. If you can get past that, it’s a good listen overall.

Good overall story

Wow!!! I absolutely love how well this book was performed!!! Amazing!!! Amazing!!! Had two of my top 5 favorite actors!!!
What I like most about the book are the parallels to modern society, the situational, relationship drama! It’s empowering, provoking , and not for the faint of heart! I had a few favorite chapters, and that quickly turned into the whole book lol hands down one of the greatest performances I’ve herad this year!!

Everything!

loved the first book; character development, plot, writing, action etc...beautiful!
this book needs significant editing and character adjustments. I started to severely dislike FMC Forest bc of the second book and I might not move into the next book. I had really high hopes for this series bc of the first book (amazing, 5 stars across the board), this one did not make the cut 😓. I got really bored at times, turned up the speed past 2x to get through those parts..

disappointed 😞

The first book was such a great set-up for the second that I was disappointed to find the sequel portray the characters as whiny toddlers. It's like all the growth from the first disappeared once they woke up.

Great story and narration, disappointing characters
