Danger Triumph and Glory.
When another Nether Portal opens in the kingdom legends die, and new ones are born.
Koen is accepted into the famous Dragon Stone Academy, where he'll certainly encounter adventure, magic, and power beyond his wildest dreams. None of it comes easy though, and as he learns, he'll uncover more than he expected. Secrets lurk deep within the kingdom and its fabled academy. Some of them are eager to keep a young hero from saving the world.

My single, but significant, issue was with the Trading Card element of the magic system. The idea of characters relying on a random deck of cards in a real, life-or-death battle was a game mechanic that repeatedly broke my immersion in the story. I found myself pulled out of the narrative every time a battle hinged on a lucky draw instead of skill or strategy.
Because this specific element is central to the magic system, I have decided not to continue with the next book in the series.
However, if you are a fan of trading card games or enjoy a magic system based on this type of mechanic, you will likely find a lot to love here, as all the other elements of the story were great.
