It’s a time of turmoil for Europe. Hitler invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, and his intentions became clear; it will not stop there. Two days later, Britain and France declared war with Germany. The United States is assisting Britain in lending and leasing weapons, food, ammunition, and medical supplies. British merchant ships are being protected by the U.S. Navy escorts. Despite the attempt to remain neutral, the United States is attacked by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. Germany and Italy are Japan’s allies. It has now become a world war.

Josie McGregor has dreams, big dreams, as only a young girl nearing graduation could have. Her world widens when she takes employment at the big hotel in the city where she meets two young men who will change her life. Follow their journeys as they face the challenges in a world at war and learn that paths don’t always lead to home.
