Ashley Morgan has been many things: a trainee spy for the House, a psychic superhero, a private detective, and a bounty hunter. However, she's lost all of those jobs because it turns out none of them are very easy in a city run by vampires. Now having her wounded sister recovering in her apartment, Ashley has to figure out who her latest enemies are. What she finds out are they may be closer to home than she ever imagined and targeting her old classmates at spy school for sale at an undead slave market.
Armed with a magical sword containing an angel, her ex-boyfriend's magic, her devious brother, and the dubious help of New Detroit's ex-voivode, Ashley has to set out to smash a conspiracy before it turns everyone she used to know into playthings for the damned. But can she trust even those closest to her?
Brighteyes is set in the same world as the Red Room series, The Bright Falls Mysteries, and Straight Outta Fangton.

By Michael Suttkus and C.T. Phipps
This is book #2 in the series, and it's even better than the first book! I have read just about everything book of Phipps and they are all good but I think this is the best series yet! It's even better than the Weredeer series.
This has three siblings trying to make a living in a world where supernatural creatures exist. There are two sisters and one brother. They find out about their genetic background. The brother has been turned and carries a sword with a demon in it. One sister was a blood slave and she carries a sword that has an angel in it.
There are many subplots that keep it interesting. Fun and witty dialog. Great characters and action scenes. Scattered humor throughout the book. I don't want to share too much, but I really enjoyed this book! Read Brightblade, the first book, before this one.
Great narration!
outstanding!

Ashley Morgan is such a fun character. She’s been a psychic, superhero, spy, detective, and bounty hunter (not always successfully), and now she’s starting her own supernatural detective agency in New Detroit. She’s smart, sarcastic, and fiercely loyal to her friends, even when things get messy. I love how Phipps and Suttkus build their world, it’s full of vampires, werewolves, and all kinds of supernatural chaos, but the characters always stay front and center.
This story has plenty of action and some great emotional moments too. The authors do such a good job balancing the humor with real stakes, so it never feels too heavy or too silly. Brighteyes is another fast-paced and entertaining read in a world I always love coming back to.
Narration:
The only thing that threw me off a little was the narration. Kathy Bell Denton does a solid job, but since Heather Costa voiced the first book, the change took some getting used to. Denton’s performance grew on me as the story went on, though, and she did a nice job capturing the humor and pacing.
So many fun characters
