A riveting thriller about a woman still grieving her brother who was killed at a carnival, but when she goes back to retrace his steps the night he was killed, she learns the full, terrifying truth about what happened that night...

Everyone will hear you scream. No one will listen.

Norah can’t stop thinking about the night her brother died.

She was supposed to stay with him at the Halloween carnival. He’d begged her to stay. But they’d fought, and Norah left him alone in the woods. That was before she realized there was a real killer lurking among the costumes and macabre props.

When the carnival reopens just weeks later amid a media controversy, Norah decides to retrace her brother’s last steps in a desperate attempt to unravel what really happened that night. But the woods hold more than just traumatic memories.

Before long, Norah begins to suspect that the killer’s choice of hunting ground was no coincidence. And that this nightmare is far from over.

I love Noelle Ihli & her work. This one was phenomenal. The eerie anticipation throughout the whole story, the reality that this is something that could happen anywhere, the ending. The whole thing. It was so good. I only gave it 4 stars because I know there’s not a follow up to finish the few loose ends, but overall I think this is my favorite of her books so far.

Wow

The Thicket is one of those rare stories that completely pulls you in from the very first pages and refuses to let go. Noelle Ihli’s writing is rich with detail and atmosphere, creating a world that feels vivid, immersive, and just a little bit dangerous. The story building is exceptional—layered, thoughtful, and paced in a way that slowly tightens the tension until you realize you’re fully invested in the characters and their fate. I found myself racing through chapters while also wanting to savor every moment. By the end, I wasn’t ready for it to be over and was left genuinely wanting more. A gripping, beautifully crafted read that lingers with you long after you finish.

Great story - hooks you in.

I can’t say that there was anything I disliked about this book. I thought there would be a twist/ connection to the neighbor!

The story kept me interested the entire time and waiting to see what came next
