Jocelyn “Joss” Miller, a twenty-something barista, works at Sugar Creek Cafe, a hip coffeehouse with deep ties to the local arts and music community. Joss is finally feeling like she’s found her purpose as her recently launched podcast soars in popularity. With her family’s blessings, Joss produces a special tribute to her grandfather.

What seems like a step towards healing instead sets off a firestorm of reactions in the community. There are a few who would rather not be reminded of how Joss’s grandfather had been murdered years ago. When the staunchest protester is found dead, Joss becomes the number one suspect.

I liked the story didn’t love the performance. Overall good listen. The narrator was ok but I still enjoyed the story. Looking forward to the next one.

Great story

The reader is not good. It sounds very robotic. I couldn't get past the poor voice actor.

The audio voice was terrible. The reader sounded like poor Ai.

The story was just ok. The narrator did not do the story justice. I was disappointed.

I do not know if this was the reader’s first time or what but the narration was less than subpar.
I WANTED to like this book because I usually enjoy Tyora Moody’s books. I was so excited when I saw that a new book was available.
Unfortunately, the narration made this book REALLY hard to listen to and really hard to enjoy.
Buy the book and read it. This performance is NOT IT. Respectfully.

Good Story…HORRIBLE Narration

The story is very good and well written but not well narrated. No emotion, no reflection, no inflection, and some over speaking & repetition. This made it almost impossible to get through this except for the story-line itself. Maybe a re-do could enrich this and renegade the listeners. Character voices are very important and without that kind of engagement this could lose current and potential listeners. Thank you for this story... reflective of many family stories. Please don't allow it to be lost.
