Kai Butler really knows how to entertain and how to use every paragraph to make things happen. There’s never a dull moment and you’re always left wanting to listen to just one more chapter.

Surprise and good use of magical coin!

Appreciated the build up, and surprise toward the end. One of the better stories of the series. Worth the journey!

Favorite of the Series

Kai Butler’s creativity in writing a story around a magical coin with a raven on one side and a dragon on the other shines through. Medium angst and an interesting storyline with a few unexpected surprises kept me listening straight through today. Low steam, but lots of action!

My Absolute Favorite FFTF Installment!

I felt like this book would fit in nicely with the world of San Amaro Investigations, one of KB’s previous series, and one of my favorite series of all time! It was absolutely riveting to feel like I was back there, along with all of the ultra charismatic characters in this book. This stand-alone story includes satisfying amounts of snark, coupled with a smoothly interwoven storyline that unfolded in unexpected ways as time went on. Characters were well-designed and had rich personalities. The coin was its own character and played a substantial role. This tale ultimately reminded me why I love Kai Butler’s writing so much!

Wow!

This was so good! World building, character development, story pacing, all excellent. It has a little of the San Amaro feel to it without being redundant. And the narrator was amazing, a new favorite. Definitely will re-listen.
