From USA Today bestselling author Ava Harrison comes a new standalone hockey romance.

Hudson Wilde.

Star right wing for the Redville Saints.

Cocky, infuriating, and the bane of my existence.

Oh, and as of last night, my brand-new husband.

It was supposed to be a wild Vegas celebration for my brother’s hockey championship win.

Instead, I wake up with a splitting headache, a cheap ring on my finger, and my sworn nemesis pounding on my door.

Now, we’re stuck in a secret marriage until we can get it annulled.

These are the rules:

Pretend everything is normal around the team.

Avoid the media at all costs.

But the hardest rule of all?

Fighting the urge to turn "I do" into "forever."

The road to their HEA, is a bit longer than some at nearly 13 hrs, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this book by Ava Harrison (a new to me author). [Note: I listened @1.25x speed, which is pretty normal for me, and that made it ~ 10 hrs.]
It's the 3rd book in a series. I bought it because the narrators -- Connor Crais and CJ Bloom -- are one of my favorite duos. I listened to it as a standalone and really enjoyed it. I added the other books in the series to my wishlist.
The story takes place over the course of several years, while Hudson and Molly's brother (Dane) are teammates. This is essentially an enemies to lovers story and the Vegas wedding (blurb), doesn't happen until later (2nd half). This story had a good mix of humor, heart, healing, and heat. I giggled at the banter & funny group convos & texts, My heart broke for the loss of family/ family dysfunction/ childhood trauma. I was heartened by the many examples of "found family", their sense that "home" can be a person (not just a place), & the possible role of fate (or destiny/ a higher power at work) in one's life.
Connor and CJ's dual narration was wonderful, & their acting was excellent as always. They are a real joy to listen to.

Hudson & Molly 🩷 Love them & their 'Wilde' ride

The woman is just too unlikable. She’s so mean to the male character, I couldn’t believe he would continue to try.

Female character

Not what I expected, but also contained everything the blurb described. My favorite stories are about a black cat FMC and a retriever MMC. This was spicy, romantic and the pace was perfect. The only thing that would have made it better is duet narration!

Story was ok but the female lead was awful. On top of that I’m not a huge CJ Bloom fan. Connor is great as ever though

Molly

I really like the MMC, but Molly is absolutely irredeemable. Her attitude sucks! Every chapter of hers is either her scowling and being super sassy when it’s uncalled for, or her having a panic attack where the super sweet MMC talks her down even though he should just let her suffer alone.

FMC is insufferable
