From New York Times bestselling author Tricia O’Malley, Charmed meets The Pumpkin Spice Café in this cozy romantasy about a witch returning to Scotland to break a family curse—only to clash with one grumpy Scotsman determined to protect his town from her haywire magic.

She’s hexed. He’s vexed. And for Scotland’s most magical small-town, their feud might just spell disaster.

Sloane MacGregor swore she’d never return to Briarhaven, but with her twenty-fifth birthday looming—the day witches come into their magic—her grandmother summons her and her sisters back for one tiny task: break the centuries-old curse haunting their bloodline.

Knox Douglas, Briarhaven’s grumpy mayor, has worked tirelessly to make his town a haven for magical folk. The last thing he needs is a cursed MacGregor wreaking havoc. It doesn’t matter he once crushed on her. For the sake of Briarhaven, Sloane has to go.

But magic has other plans—and in Briarhaven, love really is a witch.

I am a big fan of this author and have read every book she has written, often then listening on Audible, too. This is a compelling story and I am curious to see where the series goes.

I do have feedback on the narration. I appreciated hearing 2 narrators, one male and one female. That said, I found it quite jarring for them to go back and forth with chapters. The male narrator was iffy with his female characters. It would be so, so, so much more compelling if they could read together, dividing up the male and female characters, more like a "full cast" rendition. If that can't be done, I'd prefer one narrator for the entire book.

Great start to a new ser

Note: Steamy Sexual Content:
This author has such an incredible imagination. This story is completely unpredictable, which is the first thing I loved about it. But all the fantasy, the descriptive details, the rich characters, their backstory, their present story is so completely full and exciting, it creates one very compelling, creative and captivating story. I loved it & highly recommend it. As far as the narrators, I have a very critical ear when it comes to declaring good narration. I work with authors & narrators and check audio books before they are uploaded to ACX. Therefore, I can be tough to win over. Secondly, I am typically not a fan of two narrators involved in one story. However, these two narrators worked out beautifully. I must admit I am very impressed. Well done!
Don’t pass this one by.

A powerful love story!

Story is just like described-cute and cozy with a little bit of spice. It’s a pretty simple premise, and if you’re looking for a quick listen with low emotional baggage this is a good pick. My main issue is just like the other reviews- the narrators are rough. The FMCs narrator was all over the place, her accent kept dropping and was inconsistent the entire time. The MMCs narrator was quite monotone, but at least he stayed true to the accent. I would suggest reading this one, not listening.

Liked the story, disliked the narrators.

Another book by this author I have adored! The MMC and FMC are written and preformed perfectly. I strongly recommend all of Tricia’s books especially if you love romances that take place in Ireland and Scotland.

I loved it!!
