Two homicide detectives track a brazen killer who’s dropping bodies at historical Philadelphia landmarks in this action-packed crime thriller.

Giuseppe “Discipline” Cain is a cold-hearted, calculated, and resentful murderer who turns Philadelphia into his own personal killing ground. As the death toll rises, city officials and the police department clamor to calm the fears of the citizens about this brazen serial killer. When an elected official’s family member is found dead, no one in the city is safe.

Detective Aaden Bravo is a highly decorated officer with a legendary clearance rate. Detective Christian Bennett is flashy, reckless, and a serial womanizer. After Christian’s transfer to the Philadelphia Police Department’s homicide division, these two starkly contrasting officers are forced to work together. Despite their disdain for each other, Aaden and Christian’s skill sets complement each other. While Aaden is all about the job and Christian is all about the women, their next case is all about survival.

Will they succumb to the pressure of maintaining their partnership, or can they cast aside their differences and stay alive long enough to bring Discipline to justice?

Discipline is a dark disturbed individual. He plotted and had a list to follow. He felt wronged and needed to get his revenge on those who deceived him. He ran into a woman he once loved to bring her along for the ride, with her being his ride or die she had no problem joining in on the fun. I hope in the next book the fun continues..

Uh yeah there wasn't really anything bad to say about this book. I really enjoyed this book but it makes me wonder what will the next book be called since it was left on cliffhanger. This book was wild. And the narrator was good with telling the story.

I really enjoyed the story so the way through, all the action and gore of the city streets of Philly. my only complaint is the narrator want very animated when reading. Great story, just deserved a better narrator. I didn't hate the man speaking, just found it word for a book like this.

Worth the credit, you won't be disappointed

Marc Avery’s Discipline is a gritty, fast-paced thriller that perfectly captures the pulse of Philadelphia. From the first chapter, Avery draws readers into a layered story of two homicide detectives—Aaden Bravo and Christian Bennett—who are as different as they come yet forced to rely on one another to bring justice to the city’s dark underbelly.

The beauty of this novel lies not just in the suspense, but in the depth of its characters. Bravo and Bennett are flawed, complex, and human—each carrying emotional scars that influence their every move. Their tension adds weight to the story, creating moments that feel raw and real.

Then there’s Giuseppe “Discipline” Cain, a villain written with surprising nuance. One page you pity him, the next you can’t stand him. Avery manages to make readers wrestle with empathy and disgust in equal measure—no small feat for any storyteller.

What stands out most, though, is how vividly Avery paints Philadelphia. The landmarks, neighborhoods, and energy of the city feel alive on the page, grounding the action in authenticity and grit. By the time the story reaches its resolution, it’s clear Avery isn’t just writing crime fiction—he’s building worlds and exploring what drives people to the edge.
