This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
In the underground world of crime, Jet Rusco clashes with gangsters and space thugs. He’s a man who lives on the edge, turned to hustling to survive.

A heist gone bad centering on alien tech leads him on a dodgy adventure, forces him to find allies. Who can he trust? Rough-boy Marty, headstrong Deidra, the tech-savvy TK, the kickbutt Wren?

Wracked with self doubts and with bounty hunters on his tail, Rusco finds his choices bringing him face to face with a mystical despot who if left unchecked, will subjugate the human-populated free colonies. The question is, can Rusco outwit his enemies? Can he rise up, become an avenger in a world gone dark?

A gritty thriller full of cons, space battles, twists and danger. 1500 pages of epic space adventure!

The virtual voice used to read this story is painful when combined with the author’s unique writing style. The stories themselves are decent. But style and speech pattern combine to make this a painful listen.

The main character is described initially as a blonde long haired male in his late teens. Yet the chosen voice has a cadence and weight more befitting a mid thirties guy from the Deep South totally incongruous with the narrative.

I’ve stopped listening several times and tried to resume. But two and a half books in, I am throwing in the towel.

Dreadful choice of virtual voice combined with a clipped style of writing.

Why can we create AI to read, write, sing, and so on BUT we still cant have them pronunciate the words properly?
This is why i dont like computer narraration. they have no idea how to read it properly ..!!!

so far so good

If the story is good it’s lost in the horrid narration. Run on words, wrong word stress for emotions. It’s just clunky and awkward. But it’s free.

AI narration kills this
