1954
Deep in the woods, secluded in a bleak, old convent, a young girl screams in pain. She’ll get no sympathy today. Years of attending to these wayward girls have left the nuns cold and indifferent. They have one purpose now – to save the baby.

1994
Monica cries out in pain as her husband’s fist slams into her face, and she drops to the floor. She doesn’t go to work today. Instead, she soaks in a hot bath, trying to ease the pain from her battered body.

Hope answers her front door, and a shot rings out, barely missing her head. Maybe asking for a divorce wasn’t a good idea. Someone just tried to kill her, and she’s almost sure she knows who it was.

This is a story about sisters - unaware that the other exists – in toxic marriages - alone – afraid - and feeling helpless.

Until, that is - one day, they meet, and a plan is born.
