The book was well written. The author didn’t have repetitive adjectives or dialogue, personal pet peeve of mine, so it was refreshing to have dialogue that flowed naturally and used words that refreshed vocabulary I forgot I had. Also the use of medical terms and conditions was nice and fairly on point (I’m a nurse and enjoyed that addition)
I listened to the book in a day. The world building concept was unique. The author did a good job explaining the perspective of each character.
Spoilers:
I actually really liked the realistic pacing of the book. In some fantasy novels the characters go through lots of traumatic experiences all at once and it resolves quickly. The five year gap the main couple didn’t see each other was realistic to me. I enjoyed that.
Also their reunion was SO on point. Post trauma you don’t immediately trust someone just because you love them. I liked the authors portrayal of this.
Also legit was shocked that Caden ended up being her son’s tutor.
I also enjoyed the wholesome relationships that this book had. In other books often times royal families are portrayed as dysfunctional. But this royal family had solid relationships, the king just made a stupid mistake, based on faulty laws. Very human.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was some quick brain candy to get me through the days monotony.
Well written and well paced
