A pretty impostor. A devil of a duke. A dangerous game of deception.

Lady Emily Hepplewhite and her sister Cecily, two daring impostors of humble origins, concoct a bold plan to secure a prosperous future. They set their sights on the Duke of Wolferton, infiltrating a lavish country house party with Emily in the guise of a maid and Cecily posing as a wealthy heiress. Their mission: to charm the Duke into marriage and reclaim a life they lost.

But the 'Devil' Duke is true to his name and infuriatingly uncooperative. Determined to unmask fortune hunters targeting his wealth and title, he turns the tables on the would-be deceivers by countering with a shocking proposal of his own. As Emily finds herself entangled deeper and deeper into her web of lies, she faces a choice that could alter the course of their lives forever.

When echoes of her past emerge—letters from a childhood confidant who once captured her heart—Emily discovers that fate has woven a tangled web indeed.

Will Emily's matchmaking mishap lead to disaster, or can love triumph in this game of deception?

'Lady Emily’s Matchmaking Mishap' is a sweet and sparkling Regency romp filled with witty banter, heartfelt secrets, and a charming twist on the fake engagement trope. Perfect for fans of second chances, enemies-to-lovers romance, and heroines who aren’t afraid to take matters into their own hands.

The sweet first love of innocence through letters and the belief in magical forest fae & wishes just melted my heart. As the reality of life and adulthood and hardness of circumstances unfold and magical hopes fade (as it does in each our own lives), it is as if the reader is part of the story. We both root for magic & rue reality with them.

There is a bit more length to the heroine's hatred for the hero & reticence to admit love than I'd have liked. Yet her longing for Fen in the face of her "now" is so much like all of our letting go of first loves & embracing more adult love. It holds us through to see the hero secretly manipulate and strategically plan to win her back & redeem her situation & their love. It is the hero's persistence & joy to win her & build a life with her that makes him a very swoon-worthy & meritorious hero. They both love each other so much that it almost reinforces to readers that magic and pure love exists.

Very few stories bring tears to my eyes, but this true love was so beautiful & believable that this story makes the top tier of romance stories to me. I have over 900 audible stories in my library, and most are forgettable, plenty are good, a number of them are excellent, and several stand out. This would fall into the excellent to potentially stand-out level. No, there isn't the sex that is in most of the stories I listen to, true; but this doesn't have the ridiculous idiocy of many "clean" romances either, despite several comedy of errors with their identities.

Most "clean" or Christian romances are typically overrated by readers who seem overly grateful for a lack of sex scenes or swearing & fail to accurately rate the stories, which are frequently terribly bad, cheesy, preachy, or inauthentic IMO. This isn't that. I highly recommend this story. It's worth the credit - call it a "Cinderella credit" choice.

This was a Delight of Heartfelt Love

Loved every minute of it. Another sweet and original storyline. The only part I didn’t like was when the book ended. I wish I could slow down time to enjoy the books more.

The storyline is original and sweet
