Attempting to enjoy her newfound freedom. Danalyn Moore's vacation is interrupted when she receives a call that could not be ignored. Her presence has been demanded and she has been ordered to come back home immediately. Trouble is on the horizon back in the states according to her father. As a result, her vacation quickly comes to an end. Returning home, her world is rocked, and she is left to deal with the consequences of her estranged husband's actions.

Unbeknownst to Danalyn, her husband was not only a liar, cheater, and thief. He is also responsible for the many mishaps that occur once she arrives. She discovers that her husband had a dark side that was kept hidden in plain sight for years. Avery wasn't so savory after all. This becomes painfully clear and when the smoke settles. It's Dana who is left holding the gun. Her husband's exploits leave behind a carnage of complications. Therefore, Danalyn is forced to figure out a way to keep herself and her family safe. She's not along through this process though. Her father becomes a sounding board and beacon of light for his daughter. Ensuring that she along with his grandchildren are guarded in every sense of the word.

Because of the carnage caused by her husband, Dana is forced to be put away like her box of whittles for safekeeping. The sad but harsh reality is that life after Avery will never be the same. She does her best to get cozy with this fact. The questions still remain. Will she survive her new way of life? Will she be able to carve out her new place in this world? It shouldn't be too difficult. Whittling new things is what she does.
