An uplifting and inspiring memoir.

Despite insurmountable odds, Debbie Miller managed to navigate the many challenges that life presented with honesty and strength. And these many obstacles could be deeply felt through the excellent narration by Anne Marie Lewis.

Heartwarming and inspiring

Debbie Miller promised her father and herself to protect and defend her brother Ricky, who was born with Down’s Syndrome. Armed with life lessons from her grandfather, the unceasing support of her husband Jeff, a fierce love for Ricky, and a steely determination, Debbie has successfully honored that promise. Raising Ricky is the story of their lives. It is a story filled with tragedy, courage, joy, and accomplishment and told with an admirable honesty that will resonate with all. Debbie’s reading of the dedication, acknowledgements, and epilogue provides the bookends for this audiobook, and Anne Marie Lewis consistently gives voice to each member of Debbie’s family and friends in her thoughtful narration of their story.

Debbie—and, by extension, her husband Jeff’s—dedication to Rick is the heart of this story. This is what love looks like. Their story is well written and narrated. I highly recommend it.
