A hapless human prince. A cynical fae mercenary. An unbreakable bargain.

Prince Harmen of Tulpenland, an idyllic duchy of flowers, farm fields, and windmills, has been bargained to the fae to save his little brother’s life. He’s woefully unprepared for the challenges he’s about to face, but he’s determined to escape once the bargain is fulfilled.

Val’s mission should have been simple: deliver the human prince to the fae who holds his bargain. But when they arrive, that fae has already bargained him away to someone else.

Tied together with a magical cord, Val and Harm brave dangerous monsters, treacherous fae, and meddling dragons as they attempt to fulfill the bargain so he can escape and she can go her separate way. If only the prince wasn’t so cheerfully good. Then Val wouldn’t be suffering such a pesky guilt at eventually handing him over to his cruel fate. By the time they reach their destination, will more than a magic cord tie them together?

But nothing is as it seems in the Fae Realm. Not even a simple bargain.

Ties of Bargains is book 4 in Tethered Hearts, a multi-author series of no spice fantasy romances. Each standalone story features a magical bond that forces the couple to discover how much they’re willing to sacrifice for the sake of love.

It took me a bit to get into this book, but it gets steadily better as it goes and I ultimately really enjoyed it. I loved the humor, which is quite prevalent throughout. I also enjoyed the adventure aspect, with the MCs journeying through dangerous and unknown lands together. The book is full of strange and imaginative fae creatures and places.

The character development is also well done. The MMC is a soft human prince and the FMC is a hardened fae mercenary. Their adventures and interactions help them both to grow and meet each other nearer the middle.

Recommended to those who enjoy a good romantasy.

Content:
There is no foul language or sex. There is some violence, but it isn’t excessive or gory. There’s human trafficking in the form of fae enslaving humans, and mentions of their terrible and debauched treatment. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. There is no mention of faith or God.

A great romantasy!

Tara did it again! Ties of Bargains was absolutely excellent! I loved being back in the Fae Realm and seeing familiar faces and names, even ones I didn’t like. Val was such a fierce, stabby FMC, and I liked that she referred to Harm as a puppy. Harm was a refreshing MMC, good to his core, and not outstanding in looks, build, or skill. Daisy was the best three headed dog. I hope to get more books in this world with all the cameos!

So so good!

Both narrators were so good and really captured both MC’s characters. It had been awhile since I read the book and it was really fun to live it again with the narration. Now I need to go back and read Mountains of Dragon and Sacrifice again after the reference to it in this book. 😊

Love these narrators!

Absolutely adored the dual narrators!!! So good! Especially for Harm, but both really brought Tara’s world to life in a whole new fun way!

Loved the ties together journey of this one! The black cat/golden retriever vibes are just exquisite! Grumpy fae warrior Val has to tug sunshiney Prince Harm around the fae realm and it’s hilarious! But I lost appreciated their character arcs and the complete circle the story made. Very well done!

This is a fantastic journey!!

I liked the story and the female narrator. However the mail narrator almost had me stop listening. He very much felt like he was reading something he wasn’t comfortable with. And he mispronounced fae which was made more obvious by the correct pronunciation by the female narrator.

Good, make narrator was rough
