I have some issues with the lead FMC

Overall I liked the story but it gets very tiring how writers write female characters. The main FMC had a relationship with her boyfriend’s best friend years earlier but wait so long to tell him about it but then say why does it matter. Setting up the MMC to be in the wrong if he got mad. But if it was the other way around we all know how it would play out. Also, she tells the ex boyfriend about her boyfriend mother’s illness??? When even her boyfriend doesn’t know. Really. She ask the mother about her health after just meeting her?? Sometimes it’s just tiring reading about so called strong feminist women who don’t need anyone to tell them anything and is always right no matter what and have the man groveling no matter what. Alpha man wrong, simp man right.. it’s ok to make the FMC to take responsibility for their actions too. This man almost lost his damn career and deal with the fact that his girlfriend consulted with her ex about something very sensitive and important. But in this story, they made the man seem like he did something wrong. SMH 🤦🏽‍♀️

I fell in love with Parker and Cassidy when Dr. Resident released in Fall 2023, but hearing their story made me fall all over again! Desiree Ketchum and John Lane did such an incredible job capturing the push and pull of Cassidy and Parker’s story. John did such a great job bringing out Parker’s stoic, no nonsense personality, while Desiree highlights Cassidy’s strong will, caring, fun loving side.

It was hard to get through it

The beginning was good but as it continued it got boring. I’m hoping the second book is better

My medical drama loving heart loved the heck out of this listen! Clocking in at 10 hours, book one of the Midtown Memorial series by Lexie Woods (performed in duet by Desireé Ketchum and John Lane) is the perfect kick off to a high paced, high spice audiobook.

Desireé and John both have voices that are so complimentary no matter the partner, and together they were a perfect blend in my ears. Desireé plays Cassidy, a nurse who is still reeling from the death of her brother the year prior. John is Parker, a resident who is meticulous about his work and role within the hospital. Even though they work in the same hospital they’ve never crossed paths. Until an accident throws them together with unexpected proximity…and spice.

This story was so full of everything you’d expect in a medical drama turned romance book, and at the heart of it are two ambitious people who bring out the best in each other.

Desireé plays Cassidy as a smart and feisty nurse who can’t deny her attract to Parker. Her voice is sensual, sweet and commanding all at the same time. She matches Cassidy perfectly. I really appreciate that Desireé gave her vulnerability, and at times, made her playfully submissive. Cassidy is such a beautiful woman who wants to find love and be loved, and her journey with Parker truly starts to heal her heart…until it shatters all over again.

And John Lane? This man oozes the professional stoicism that is Parker. He’s confident in his abilities as a doctor, as he is in his last year of residency. What I love so much about John’s performance is that he maintains the alpha characteristics of Parker while ever so gradually revealing his tenderness for Cassidy.

I loved this listen so much — the dynamics of hospital life is always fascinating to me, and Lexie captures the heart, drama, and aesthetic with this listen. I am so glad I had the opportunity to listen to Desireé and John bring Cassidy and Parker to life. I can’t wait for book 2!

Review: Dr. Resident was phenomenal in audio! Desiree Ketchum and John Lane blew me away with their chemistry together while narrating Cassidy and Parker's romance...and that GROWL John is able to pull for Parker, YUM! I loved this book when it first released and Lexie was really able to bring it to life for the audiobook edition, the narrators, the vibes and the tension these two brought to the table had be unable to press pause. From beginning to end Desiree and John took these two characters and put so much oomf into them I felt like I was at the hospital sometimes watching it play out...and the sarcastic with Morgan adds in narration form *chef's kiss*!

Rating: 5/5; Dr. Resident is even steamier in your ears!
