The author of Call the Canaries Home returns with an enchanting novel about marriage, friendship, and second chances, where the power of a new perspective reveals the impact of time lost…and found.

Selling real estate full time, raising two young daughters, clinging to a slipping marriage—Audrey’s life is definitely a balancing act. But when a tumble down the stairs leaves her with more than just a bump on the head, she wakes up five years in the past, before the first tear in her marriage threatened her trust in Travis.

Her kids are babies again. Her career is full of promise. Her dog, Willow, is still alive. In this miraculous do-over, she could prevent a heartbreaking tragedy and land a game-changing sale. But having it all means putting her trust in Travis and owning up to the part she might have played in their separation.

As she relives and revises the past, Audrey discovers who her real friends are and what her heart actually wants. But before she can truly come home, she must decide. Is Travis the obstacle holding her back from her dreams, or the key to having it all?

Critic reviews

“In her third novel, The Marriage Slip, Barrow explores the intersection of expectations and reality through suburban mom Audrey’s struggle with her marriage, career, friendships, and motherhood. Readers will groan, cry, and cheer on Audrey as she navigates an inexplicable yet precious gift from the universe—a second chance. Have tissues handy because this novel will grab readers by the heart and not let go until the last page.”—Kristin Kisska, Agatha Award-nominated author of The Hint of Light

“In her delightfully engaging third novel, Laura Barrow explores what might happen when a crumbling relationship gets an unexpected do-over. I was instantly drawn in by the relatable characters and intriguing time travel, but The Marriage Slip also packs a tremendous amount of truth, with insights about motherhood, equal partnership, and how to find the magic in our ordinary lives. I loved this book!”—Hadley Leggett, author of All They Ask Is Everything

“Laura Barrow’s The Marriage Slip should be required reading for every couple with young kids. Blending magical realism with the most realistic of difficulties in balancing marriage and parenthood, this is a grownup version of Sliding Doors. Honest, raw, and touching, this story will stay with you long after the last page is read. Highly recommend!”—Sara Goodman Confino, bestselling author of Don’t Forget to Write

Story is cute. Narrator was good as well. The FMC was annoying. Like get out of your own way! She was SO NEGATIVE & really made it hard for herself to move forward and see the good in situations. She was very dislikable to me

Cute but FMC is annoying
