Catching the bewitching beauty was easy. Keeping her? That'll be more challenging....
Being kidnapped by aliens was bad enough. But participating in a contest where she's chased down (quite literally) and forced to marry the demon who caught her? That was a nightmare. Or so Aurora thought. But when the giant, horned warrior who catches her turns out to be unexpectedly sweet, she's forced to rethink everything....
Rhaego hadn't intended to catch Aurora. He was supposed to win a different abducted human on behalf of her fated mate. But one look at her stole his breath along with all his best intentions. He's never wanted anyone the way he wants her. Still...how could he expect a divine female like Aurora to stay with a blight like him once his mission is complete?
Gathering the abducted humans and smuggling them out of his homecity, Tuva, will be no easy feat. When it's all said and done, can Rhaego and Aurora turn their marriage of convenience into a happily ever after?
Contains mature themes.

Next to the likeable MCs, my favorite thing about this series is the world building. Most alien romance books build just enough world to support the forced proximity alien romance. Most alien romance books build one kind of made-for-her-pleasure alien. Ms. Aveline, however, is in a class far, far above; this series delivers a world with a dozen different aliens, cultures, and terrains. The cultural quirks of Rhaego’s people, like tilting heads upward in respect (pointing horns away), made the story come alive. I also liked that Aurora was a witch as it brought some fun with potions.
Of course, there’s still a great romance at the heart of each story. The foundation of the Clecanians desperate for women and longing for the fated mate-bonds that disappeared from their world supports the forced proximity storyline. Here, Rhaego is the sweetest, most insecure hunka burning smolder ever, including his cinnamon scented musk and his Red Hot candy-colored skin. Aurora was also more sweet, tearful, and timid than I usually prefer, although her sunny disposition eventually won me over. The amount of ‘I’m unloveable’ insecurity from both of them was a bit much, making this a much slower burn than it needed to be. If either one of them had talked to each other about their insecurities or their situation, we wouldn’t have to wait 10 hours to get to the naughty bits.
Good thing there was a larger plot about the earth girls caught in intergalactic conspiracies and Clecanian baby-making politics to keep me invested while these lovebirds oh, so slowly shed their inhibitions. In keeping with alien romance, things never got too dark, focusing instead on humor and heart. As a bonus, there were two other earth girls and at least one other romantic side-plot. In fact, I’m hoping Maggie’s HEA is up next as she’s quite the spitfire. All in all, this was a solid installment.
Rhaego: the biggest cinnamon roll ever!
