Life-Altering Book

Expansive, intelligent, interesting and impressive.
Very good narrator.
Sent me on a whole new branch of my path.

This was quite the grind and had many issues making it an insufferable book to make it through.

The biggest problem with this version of the book is that it is completely missing the reference material that Manly P Hall is talking about. A lot of the book is like this and it quickly becomes insufferable because he will be talking about a picture that you should be able to see: most books on audible have a thing you can click that will let you see the picture but not this book. He takes the time to go through every single religion but is constantly coming back to Christianity, Gnosticism, Kabbalah and Astrology. It quickly wears out its welcome when we are simply talking about the Egyptian religion and he decides that he needs to tie it to Christianity somehow and trust me he does it repeatedly. After he has finished telling you every religion that has a cross in it or every religion that believes in a god that was crucified and yes he does this then he goes back to talking about you guessed it Kabbalah, Astrology, Gnosticism or Christianity even if the topic at hand doesn't even need to be tied to it. Its like he was trying to tie the worlds major religions back to Christianity and Astrology no matter what. He also sees connections that I just cannot see and a great deal of the time when he is telling you what the meaning of something is he is literally just making it up as he goes through his Christian Astrotheology lens. This wears out its welcome quite fast as well. He even takes the time to just outright say that Islam is wrong and inaccurate and I am not a Muslim but can we really call this unbiased when he always goes back to his own biased viewpoints and grinding the axe he has? Now I will mention that he doesn't believe Christianity literally and sees it as more of an allegory with hidden meanings but he still does the same thing to Christianity he did to every other religion which is making up hidden meanings and connecting it to Astrology and Gnosticism and Kabbalah. There is interesting stuff here but a lot of it really is just a trust me bro I know what I'm talking about type of situation.
