Zen emerging in the US

To a newcomer to San Francisco Zen Center in the late 1970s, David Chadwick was something of a mercurial presence. His home base was a converted chicken coop on a friend’s property down the road from Green Gulch Farm. In contrast to many of his fellow priests, his manner was anything but sober or serious.
