" —Jack Carr, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Red Sky Mourning

"If the world went completely sideways from a zombie virus outbreak, and we had to put together a militia to save the human race, Andy Stumpf would be my top draft pick. Exceptional people that you can call friends are one of the most valuable resources in this life. They provide examples of how to conduct yourself in a way that you admire, and can aspire to. Their accomplishments fuel you with inspiration, and their thought process enhances your perspective. Andy is one of my favorite examples of this, and knowing him has made me a better man. I’m honored to be his friend." -Joe Rogan

Quite simply a must read if you want to be a better man. There are lots of books out there and this is just one of many. There are no new lessons here. There are very few new stories here as well. However, this particular arrangement of stories and lessons is in fact unique. What this book can teach is a lesson every man should take to heart at this time in our history.

There is a lack of strong teaching for men right now because society has been focusing on women for the past few decades. There is nothing wrong with that and to some extent it is correcting a wrong that has been acted on for millennia. But as with all things human, we have gone too far the other way. We find ourselves with weak men that are largely lost for a lack of leadership. That leadership is still there it just has remained quiet for good reason but also misguided reason for too long.

I am in no way comparing Mr. Stumpf’s book to some gym bro, Alpha dude empty lesson on toxic masculinity. What I am saying is this book is an every man struggle to do the right things for the right reasons. Respect your fellow men and your fellow women. Respect yourself foremost as a path to better respect for others. To keep your goals and your loves in the forefront when times get tough.

Buy the book. Read the book. Tell a friend. Call a loved one. Work hard and take care of those in your orbit.

If you are a man in the 21st century, you need to listen to this.

I've been a fan of Andy's Cleared Hot podcast for years. As accomplished a guy (in many fields) as he is, he never comes off as arrogant or unlikable. He's quick to point out that being a SEAL is what he did and not who he is, and to that end, his book is not a collection of "war stories," but instead, a book about how his former profession shaped, and revealed both his character and his enviable work ethic. Despite his many accomplishments, his self deprecating humor and quick wit comes across as genuine and honest.

Go ahead and spend a credit and listen. His story about his tandem jump with a less than cooperative interpreter, alone, is worth the price of the book, but it's what he teaches (in that situation and many others) that makes this work valuable.

I truly believe that Andy is more satisfied with what the reader takes and applies to their own lives than he is with the reader being impressed by his own accomplishments. That said, he's sacrificed a great deal for this nation (at times ringing significant personal and professional costs) and for that, I am extremely grateful.
