Over and over again, God’s people have invited foreign influences into their hearts and homes, embracing the “slow stain of the world.” From the Israelites at Sinai, to the early Christians in Rome, to the Saints in Missouri, the scriptural record is brimming with cautionary tales of covenant communities undone by worldly temptations. Yet we are not helpless spectators to these tragedies; we have the power to learn from their mistakes and guard ourselves against the subtle pull of false ideas and misguided practices.

In this penetrating exploration, Connor Boyack delves deeply into the historical and scriptural accounts of God’s covenant people—tracing how each was gradually corrupted by outside influences and undone by pride, greed, or complacency. Listeners will discover how those same destructive forces operate today and how we ought to counteract their spread in order to remain faithful to Jesus Christ.

I began following Connor’s weekly musings about a year ago, so I am somewhat familiar with his thoughts on our current “awful situation.” This book is riveting. He forcefully and fearlessly condenses and delivers his clear insights with logic and evidence … truly a Samuel on the wall … and the closest thing I have seen to a prophet in this day.

A courageous masterpiece!

I have read several of the author's books, all of which are great. This is so needed today. The Slow Stain truly provided lessons from the past warning us of the dangers. Then it provides examples today of how stains are growing today, unbeknownst to us oftentimes, or most of the time. The author thoroughly kept me engaged such that I could hardly stop until the end. We would do well to understand the lessons and heed the warnings. Phenomenal book. I cannot say enough. Members of the LDS church need to wake up and pay attention!

Slow stain, quick read

A great and sometimes difficult read as Connor does not shy away from pointing out things that many of us would rather just sweep under the rug. Highly recommend.

A Bold Wake Up Call

This was a great summary of what the current very sad state of the LDS Church is like in 2025. Connor nails it and plainly highlights what many of us think, but would never dare state out loud.

Truth backed by written history and the scriptures makes this book very hard hitting to anyone that may be still in denial.

I liked his historical review of peace and downfall of nations and people throughout history and our challenges to stay true to Christian values now.

The passionate cry for truth and holding to Christian values no matter what.
