Life seemed infinite when I was younger. The possibilities endless. I believed I had time to figure out my next step. Time to plan my future. I was the fleeting girl next door. Always buzzing from one day to the next with no real plan, no real destination. That’s the thing about life. It made you promises. It whispered sweet nothings in your ear. Spreading Poisoned lies. My life was planned, and I wasn’t in on the details. The day I turned eighteen, I learned the hard way that life only told you what you wanted to hear. It covered up the ugly truth. I was sold away. My life no longer my own. My future was a bottomless pit of shame and loneliness.

I lived my life one mission to the next. Always on the go with no plans to settle down. My brothers always wanted me to come home. Be in the family business. Take my place at their sides. I lived for the thrill of the hunt, the cloak and daggers life. Then I got a call that changed everything. My next mission was close to home, and with it took everything I thought I wanted and burned it to the ground one small flame at a time. Mila dumped my world on its axis the moment she turned those beautiful blue eyes my way. Begging me for two things. One of the things she asked me for I could never give.
