Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Easy jobs don't exist. Jerold should have remembered that.

Jerold thought guiding some desperate foreigners around the city would be quick coin. Find one missing relative, collect his fee, done. But his clients are hunting a man who left behind furious creditors, dangerous enemies, and what appears to be a truly impressive talent for bad decisions.

Now Jerold's caught between rain-soaked ambushes and mounting threats, wondering if any amount of coin is worth babysitting people who somehow make every situation worse. And as the trail grows colder, one thing becomes clear: some people stay missing for good reason.

A fast-paced fantasy with action, adventure, and a dash of dry humor.

There are a lot of spots in this story that are more than okay, a fair amount that really show some promise, but that AI narration really makes it hard for me to engage with this book. I never listen to AI narrated books, I can't stand them. As an auditory learner I tend to enjoy audio books and I knew this was a "virtual voice" narration title going in. Having said that, it was a chore, though I did make it through the entire book. It was painfully hard. Like I said, there were good parts and some bits I really have issue with but overall it was okay-ish. Listen to the sample if you can stomach the AI voice then maybe try this one out.

It's mostly ... okay-ish.

This was a good little story, with lots of action. Straightforward kind of fun ride. Written at a YA level, which I didn’t realize. Could have been so much better if narrated by a good narrator.

Good story, and lots of action.
