Jeannie had been looking forward to Michael's baseball game all day. Her mother just dropped her off at the field and she could see Michael's team in their dugout waiting for their turn to warmup.

She decided to take a walk over to his dugout to say hello before the game started. As she got closer, she was shocked when she saw a very cute girl laughing and talking to Michael. She had never seen her before...and she guessed she was maybe fifteen or sixteen. She had glossy dark curls with a ribbon tied neatly at her collar. She held a small notebook in her hands and from what she could see, Michael was enjoying every word she was saying! Jeannie suddenly felt embarrassed and wasn't sure what to do. Did Michael really want a future with her, or did he have plans with this more mature girl that he was laughing and talking to now?

Jeannie slowly turned away hoping to disappear before Michael noticed her. He looked older today...taller somehow, and more confident. She couldn't help wondering if she had been a fool to think he liked her and wanted her in his life. What was she going to do now?
