What if the answer you've been seeking has never been absent?

Daily Enlightenment is a year-long contemplative companion that guides you through the great Eastern traditions of awakening, one day at a time. This is not a book to be read once. It is a book to be lived with.

Each of the 366 entries includes a passage from a primary source, a contemplative reflection, a concrete daily practice, and a closing question designed not to be answered but to be carried through the day.

The book is organized into four quarters, each devoted to a single tradition:

Quarter One (January through March): Buddhism From the Four Noble Truths to the nature of Nirvana, these ninety-one entries explore the Buddha's diagnosis of suffering and his prescription for its cessation. Drawing from the Pali Canon, the Dhammapada, the Diamond Sutra, and the Heart Sutra, this quarter lays the foundation of contemplative inquiry.

Quarter Two (April through June): Zen Buddhism Direct, uncompromising, and stripped of all unnecessary doctrine, the Zen quarter moves through koans, satori, and the integration of awakening into everyday life. Sources include D.T. Suzuki's landmark Essays in Zen Buddhism: First Series (1927) and Kaiten Nukariya's Religion of the Samurai (1913).

Quarter Three (July through September): Hinduism and Yoga The vast contemplative landscape of India unfolds through the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, and the writings of Swami Vivekananda. This quarter explores the nature of the Self, the mechanics of karma, the four paths of yoga, and the progressive stages of samadhi.

Quarter Four (October through December): Advaita Vedanta The final quarter takes the teaching to its ultimate conclusion: there is only Brahman. Drawing from Shankara's Vivekachudamani and Atma Bodha, Paul Deussen's The System of the Vedanta, and the Upanishads, these entries guide you through discrimination, witness-consciousness, and the direct recognition of non-dual reality.

What makes this book different:

Every quotation is drawn from a text published before 1928 and residing in the public domain. No modern commentaries. No copyrighted translations. No secondary interpretations. The voices in this book belong to the traditions themselves, preserved in the translations that first carried them into the English-speaking world. Scholars such as T.W. Rhys Davids, Max Müller, Annie Besant, D.T. Suzuki, and Swami Vivekananda speak directly to you, unfiltered by modern reinterpretation.

This book is for you if: You are drawn to the contemplative traditions of the East but want substance over sentiment. You want a daily practice that is grounded in authentic sources rather than modern self-help language. You want to explore Buddhism, Zen, Hinduism, and Vedanta in a single volume, guided by a voice that is scholarly without being academic and accessible without being shallow. You want a book that respects your intelligence and trusts you to do the work.

366 entries. Four traditions. One recognition.

Explore. Remember. Awaken.
