The eyes carry an image of reality

You may be asking yourself: Why Haiku, that very question has been bothering me ever since I wrote my first poem, how could I penetrate the way I think and express what is inside and outside my being?
The characteristics of the Haiku are a great challenge. The gathering of three verses in five, seven and five syllables, not as a sum total, represents a field too small to recreate what a time and space is capable of impacting us. It must express, within its magical brevity, what happens in the place where the poet is and fix the subtle relationship that all the elements of the scenario have with the season of the year in which it takes place.

Tal vez usted se estará preguntando: ¿Por qué, Haikú?, esa misma pregunta no ha cesado de inquietarme desde que escribí mi primer poema. ¿Cómo lograría penetrar en la forma de pensar y expresar lo que está dentro y fuera de mi ser?
Las características propias del Haikú significan un gran reto. La reunión, de tres versos en cinco, siete y cinco sílabas, no como suma total, representa un campo demasiado reducido para recrear lo que un tiempo y espacio es capaz de impactarnos. Debe expresar, dentro de su mágica brevedad, lo que sucede en el sitio en que se encuentra el poeta y fijar la sutil relación que tienen todos los elementos del escenario con la estación del año en que transcurre.
