Beautifully written!

I’m so happy to have listened to this wonderful audiobook. I was transported! So happy to know of Julie Klassen’s wonderful books. In these troubling times, her books are a welcome respite and a pleasant reminder to remain civil, noble and true, no matter what happens. I’m inspired to have more patience with difficult people and to believe that in the end, all will work our just as it’s supposed to.

Anything by Julie Klassen is a GREAT read!!

I enjoyed it from start to finish as all others. I will reread her books as they are all very good. I definitely recommend!

Great characters

I really enjoyed the characters, the description of the towns and homes around, and the outcome.

well-developed characters

The characters are realistic and believable. Anne starts out at loose ends and doesn't know her place except that she wants to heal people. Arriving at Painswick to care for Lady Celia, Anne questions hersself and her skill. By the end, she comes into her own.

Lady Celia appears brusk, but we learn that she loves her family behind a facade.

Katherine is aloof, having felt smothered by her mother.

Jude and Jasper are cousins that left me wondering about their characters.

The complexities of the main characters is further developed by the plot.

There are a couple of plot surprises, and yet they made sense.

I have enjoyed several books by Julie Klassen and i'm looking forward to reading more.

I love everything that Julie Klassen has ever written and this was no exception. The Gothic theme was very enjoyable..
