Lars: A Painfully Intense and Angsty Ride

After meeting Lars in Dario and Massimo’s stories, I really wanted his path to a Happily Ever After to be a lot easier than it turned out to be. This was a painful read for me. There is a lot of see-sawing between the past, present, and future, which left me frustrated just wondering when we could begin to piece together a path to the HEA.

Both main characters had difficult childhoods that they haven’t fully resolved. Lars is grieving, feels guilty, and is completely adrift. It’s love and lust at first sight for him and he wants to find a way to make it work, but Rachel herself is a major roadblock. It is touch-and-go for most of the book. The angst, confusion, and frustrations they experienced were so evident that a bit of transference occurred—I was anxious and angsty myself, which isn't a great feeling.

The narrators do a beautiful job bringing all that heavy emotional weight to life, but definitely buckle up for a stressful listen.

love the narrators, but not the female character

I looked forward to Lars book after the first three. However, the female lead in this book made me want to scream. She's awful and such a brat. Lars deserved better, and I'm honestly not sure I want to continue with this series after this one. The maturity level and whining isn't it.

Loved this book.

Loved everything about this book. Lars and Rachel are great. Loves that he is part of Dario’s family.

Exciting and passionate!

I love this entire series! Every book and storyline trumps the next! I especially have a soft spot for Lars, the Swede who has found himself with the perfect, incredible Family.

Favorite book in the series so far. Albeit Massimo’s story was a close second. I love how she linked all the previous books to this book. Excellent job with recap and different pov. Lars and Rachel are very interesting characters. I’m looking forward to the remaining books. Especially Niccolo’s story
