He lives by one rule: Keep moving. Leave no trace. But some towns have a way of holding on.

Caleb is a ghost, a drifter who walks the lonely highways of the country with nothing but a secret and the clothes on his back. His code is simple, forged in solitude—see everything, say nothing, and never, ever get involved. It’s the only way to keep the beast inside him chained and the world at a safe distance.

But the dying town of Pike’s Ferry is different. The air itself is thick with fear, choked by the greed of a ruthless developer and his corrupt, violent sheriff. The law is a joke, and the good people who remain are being systematically crushed.

When Caleb witnesses a brutal act of intimidation, he is forced to make a choice: walk away and preserve his solitary existence, or break his own sacred rule and unleash the monster he has spent a lifetime trying to control. The town is praying for a savior. What they are about to get is something far more primal.

Forced to confront the town’s decay and the beast within himself, Caleb will drench the dusty streets in blood and deliver a final, brutal form of justice. This is not a story of a good man fighting monsters. This is the story of a monster fighting for something good.

Back in the early 70’s there was a television show starring David Carradine called “Kung Fu”. It was a great show. I loved that show so much it started my martial art career. Basically in the show there is this Chinese / Caucasian dude who was brought up by monks at the Shou-Lin temple in China. They adopt him and train how m to be a Shou-Lin Kung Fu warrior monk. He throws up & travels to America… back in the old west. He walks from small town to frontier town and always saves the down trodden folks and really destroys the evil land Barrons, the bigoted cattlemen, heck, any and every bad guy. But, he’s not about killing. That’s what this wonderful book is: Kung Fu with a werewolf.
