I thought surviving the war was hard. Turns out, being a celebrity war hero at magic school comes with its own unique challenges.

Just when I was getting comfortable with my new life at Stoneway Academy, the monsters in the Shadow Wood of Misery decided to get a lot more aggressive, and I can't help but feel like it's my problem to deal with.

My social situation has gotten... complicated. My vampire obsessed roommate still insists I'm undead, my demon familiar keeps plotting world domination through the most questionable means necessary, and now I've got to figure out with a certain bossy dragon-girl who claims to hate my guts. Add in a nosy reporter following my every move, and my student life is anything but quiet.

But the real problems run deeper than romantic entanglements and monster attacks. There's something rotten in the political landscape of Caldia, and my girls are getting caught in the crossfire. When the academy decides to send students on a hunt for the King of the Forest, I discover that some threats come from much closer to home than the depths of a monster-infested wood.

Between dodging marriage-hungry noble families and trying not to let my blood magic turn me back into the weapon I used to be, I've got my hands full. Good thing I've got four incredible witches watching my back—even if one of them is still convinced I'm going to bite her neck.

Peace might be harder to protect than I thought, but I'll be damned if I let anyone threaten the life I'm building with the women I love.

This is comedy gold. We get more into his dark back story in the military. He gets a super Tusndarai into his harem. The spice is well done with even a huge group session. The action is nothing to scoff at. Blood magic is always going to be an interesting magic. Loving the series and hope for more.

Still definitely a vampire

The horrors of war keep following the Alister, the MC, but his women are trying to keep him from falling into the pits of despair. While the dichotomy of violent war hero (criminal) going to college is a bit hard to swallow, the story continues to do a decent job at explaining why he struggles in classes. It shows how on the battlefield he has great power, but in love and school he is a novice to say the least.

Decent enough to be looking forward for the next book.

Book too keeps the storying growing...

Narrators are great, and the story is fun and loving. It's precisely the sort of HaremLit that leaves you with a sense of happiness at the end as you watch the Harem bond more and grow.

Fun and sweet

got like not even halfway through and already figured out who the bad guy was gonna be kind of makes a disappointing in addition the main character for the stuff that he did in the war is kind of a pushover in civilian life normally, if somebody’s that like straightforward, if anybody had the balls to ask him to give up what was his? They would’ve gotten the shit kicked out of him the way he just rolled over so towards the end of the book that you could have the satisfaction of destroying the predictable villain kind of made this suck I hope the next one’s not as predictable and the main character grows more of a spine

Could be better

Very good. Love the old soldier coming back from war. This is wonderful and I’m looking forward to the next books in the series.

Virgil and Jay don’t miss.
