A perfect blend

This was the perfect recipe of historical fiction, mythology, and folk horror with the talent to cook it into something awesome. Great character development, vivid settings and imagery, and I loved the WWI combat parts. It's hard to find good horror, but Hoover is at the top of my list these days. Definitely check out his other work if you enjoyed this one.

WOW!

This was an amazing story with an amazing narrator. This book has everything. Historical fiction, action, folk horror ect. I highly recommend this book, it's the best thing I've listened to this year by far.

Really great one. Pace is masterful.

This one feels like it will/ should get turned into a movie/ miniseries. Really masterful world building and character building. The best part of the whole story is how the story establishes tension, and then holds onto it throughout. The writer didn’t waste very many words with this one. There is a classic feel to overall story but writer is able to hide their secrets well inside of that framework.

His best one

I've listened to everything he has on Audible. They're all good. This one though is the best of a good bunch. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it kept my attention the whole time. The narrator did it justice as well
