John L. Sullivan, the Boston Strong Boy, was saved by George Dixon, Little Chocolate, who was trained by George Godfrey, Old Chocolate, who had John Boyle O'Reilly, the Poet, in his corner. When professional boxing changed from bloody altercations with bare knuckles to a civilized and scientific "manly" sport fought with gloves, these four men fought with both their fists and their words. In the cemeteries in and around Boston, all of these famous men have found their resting place. Their story is filled with individual professional accomplishments however when the lens is pulled back slightly we can see and feel a human connection between all four lives.
