These stories are fascinating and many were unfamiliar to me. This book brought to life characters l'd heard about in school - as well as people and events l'd never heard of. The author provides a collection of lesser-told stories from Egyptian, Roman, and Greek history that apply to world events of today. The narration of these stories is entertaining and the way in which the stories are told makes them colorful. The Cleopatra story was especially fun and illustrated the historic connection between Rome and Egypt - courtesy of Cleopatra's relationship with Ceasar. Another interesting inclusion is a chapter on women in leadership in ancient Rome. These stories are appropriate for all ages middle grades through adult: some of the history will be a review for many adults but it's still interesting and a refresher on a lot of details.

From Caesar’s pirate adventure to Alexander’s mysterious death, each chapter felt fresh and unexpected. It’s packed with details I’d never heard before, and I loved how engaging it was from start to finish. A great listen if you like untold stories of the past.
