Sweet and Cute

I read this book back at release and knew I had to listen to it. Such a sweet story. I absolutely love it! Who doesn't love a single dad falling for their kids teacher? bonus points with Kade being a firefighter!

These two narrators are new to me, and I enjoyed every second of their narration. the did a great job!

Burn It Down

Burn It Down is about Kade and Spencer and is told from both of their points of view. Kade is a firefighter and single father. Spencer is a teacher.

When Kade takes his 6 year old son to meet his teacher for the school year, Spencer is not the nicest from what happened in high school. Kade doesn't know what happened in high school, and it eats at him. He forms a friendship with Spencer, that turns into more.

Can they keep their relationship going with Spencer being Kade's son's teacher? How does Kade's son take it? Can Kade and Spencer help each other heal from what happened in the past?

I enjoyed this book, and would read more by this author.

This made my heart happy

This author can do no wrong! I love anything she puts out and her audios are always fantastic and this one was no different! I loved the concept and couldn't get over how adorable Elijah was, he definitely stole the show. When he blurted things out, noticed things his dad and teacher didnt expect, and just the joy that kids exude around the holidays melted my heart. I wanted to give him a big hug fright from the get go with what happened to his dad (Kade) and how scared he was.

Loved Spencer and his feistiness in the beginning with Kade hahaha. He didnt have all the information (once Kade opened up that made my heart break for him and I agreed with Spencer's feelings of guilt) but stood his ground for what he thought was a bystander to bullying. I am glad they got things figured out right away and that Kade went for what he had always wanted. There were so many swoonworthy moments in this one, I adored this story, easily 5/5 stars from me! I thought Spencer was brave for finally going for what he wanted. After what happened with his parents and coming back to this town where men loving men wasn't ok back in the day was a risk but it all worked out for the best when he reunites with Kade and is Elijah's teacher.

I am intrigued if the brother will get together with his bestie at the station who isn't happy in his marriage to his wife. That would be a fun second book not gonna lie ;) They both deserve their own HEAs and we love us some firefighters! I enjoyed the storyline the author brought in with the different events they had to deal with, with the scary moments that they have to deal with everyday. It would be nice maybe in this follow-up book (I am manifesting it into existence haha) to have some POVs in one of those moments. To help bring home the firefighter job and death defying they do.

The reason I didnt give this overall a 5 stars was the narrating by one of them. I am unsure who but sometimes Spencer sounded very whiny/nasally and that took me out of the story. I think it was when Kade's narrator was doing his POV but voiced Spencer's part (since I think this was dual, not duet narration). The narrators also made Elijah sound very different depending on who was doing them haha. Sometimes he sounded like a 4yr old and sometimes he sounded like he was 7 or 8. Besides that they did a good job with all the emotions thrown at these 2 and all the side characters.

Also loved all the side characters (jury is still out on his brother, but he was growing on me by the end haha). I liked the author made the mom not be greeted with open arms all forgiven after what she put the 3 kids through (Kade's mom). She would ask if she could hug them, which was a nice touch, showing she knew she had messed up and was checking their boundaries. I loved Kade's sisters and Spencer's bestie haha. I also hope Levi (I hope I am remembering his name right!) gets some love too (the first date who knows plants). This author is really good at making these standalones in this interconnected world and we go crazy for more of their stories/connections.

Great story, can't wait to devour more from this author as I go through their back catalog and she adds more audiobooks to her list!

MM Single Dad Romance

Burn It Down by Nicole Dykes is a MM single dad romance that I listened to audio narrated by Bill Sharpe and Eric Corbyn.

Nicole does a great job pulling me into the story. I can't help but binge her books in one sitting. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Kade and Spencer. I loved getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Bill and Eric did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a MM romance, single dad romance, small town romance or a contemporary romance.
