On a peaceful cattle ranch outside of El Paso, Texas, Stewart Rigby works as a cow hand, the most excitement faced each day is a stray calf or a call from one of his girls' softball coaches that they have added a scrimmage game to the schedule, "can Aly make it tonight?" Stewart has traded his life as a soldier for one of driving a tractor, worming cows, and brushing horses. He left behind his past existence of sniper in Britain's Special Air Service (SAS). Then one day, drones appear in the skies over the ranch and explosions are touched off on the outskirts of El Paso. Stewart faces a dilemma--get involved and put his family at risk, or do nothing as, perhaps, his adopted country is drawn into a war where nothing is as it appears.
