New edition of a bestseller (over 175k copies sold) that features more content from Michael S. Heiser

If it’s weird, it’s important.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, The Unseen Realm Expanded Edition features new content from Heiser never before available in print, further unveiling the unseen realm.

Talking snakes. Giants. A heavenly council. Imprisoned spirits. Your Bible is filled with strange things, but what do they mean and why do they matter? In The Unseen Realm, Michael Heiser unveils the supernatural worldview of the Bible. Heiser shows how understanding the Bible’s ancient context reveals surprises hiding in plain sight. By reading the Bible with the mindset of an ancient Israelite, you will learn new things about God, yourself, and the world. You may never read your Bible the same way again.

  • Why wasn't Eve surprised when the serpent spoke to her?
  • How did descendants of the Nephilim survive the flood?
  • Who are the assembly of divine beings that God presides over?
  • Why do Peter and Jude write about imprisoned spirits?
  • Why does Paul describe evil spirits in terms of geographical rule?
  • Who are the "glorious ones" that even angels dare not rebuke?

“How was it possible that I had never seen that before? Dr. Heiser’s survey of the complex reality of the supernatural world as the Scriptures portray it covers a subject that is strangely sidestepped.”

―John Goldingay, David Allan Hubbard Professor of Old Testament, School of Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary

“There is a world referred to in the Scripture that is quite unseen, but also quite present and active. The Unseen Realm seeks to unmask this world.”

―Darrell L. Bock, Executive Director of Cultural Engagement and Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary

How do you improve on excellence? With an expanded 10-yr Anniversary Edition!

This book is both epic and awesome for a true understanding of the ancient context in which the Bible was written.

Heiser’s work has been life changing for me. After over a half a century of Christian faith, I’m excited about the Bible in a way I’ve not been in my entire walk of faith.

This was a very in depth book. I feel like I came away with a wealth of knowledge. I will have to listen again to absorb it all.

i appreciate the fluidity and building up of the biblical text and the references. ive been through the audio twice now and intend to read the book along with looking into the citations listed as i go through using not only my bible but my word study books also. there is a lot to unpack here, but overall the world view to me seems solidly based on scripture and coherent. my recommendation is that, if your interested, is to finish the book before coming up with any consensus on the work done.

overall fluidity

This book accomplishes what the author sets out to do. It causes you to think about the Bible in a way, at least I, never had before

The Unseen Realm expanded is well worth reading. This audio book differs than the original Unseen Realm in that it has the expanded material, but does not read the footnotes which makes it flow more easily.
The original had the footnotes, and to many made it more difficult to follow, so many read Supernatural (UR lite) no footnotes and 16 chapters, different structure gives a big picture detailed overview.
Content: Heiser is presenting the Bible in context. All the footnoted material are peer reviewed sources. His ideas are are not new, often rediscovered from antiquity. He connects dots within the Bible that brings clarity and excitement to studying the text. it is a wonderful journey that Protestants, Roman Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox can find Biblical common ground. It will ruffle a little bit of feathers for everyone wanting to push their system of interpreting onto the text, instead of allowing the text/context to inform ones interpretation.

Should I read this?
