Griffin...
I loved her for years but she never loved me back. When she was taken, I snapped. Now she’s back and not herself. She’s an empty shell of the woman I knew. But I still love her. Her demons are many, and I want to slay every one. Problem is, she thinks she’s too broken.
Brie...
He never knew I loved him. I made sure of that. Then I was taken and made unloveable. My past hadn’t prepared me for the hell I was put through. I’d wanted to die, but he wouldn’t let me. No matter what I did, he made sure to save me. He says he loves me and that he always will. Problem is, I’m too broken to love him back.

Brie, bearing the scars of a tortured childhood, has a complex connection to the past through her ex, who is Sadie’s abusive husband—a central figure from the first novel. After meeting Griffin during their time in the service, Brie finds in him a steadfast source of support and understanding.
The narrative takes a dark turn as Brie becomes a victim once again, enduring months of pain, torture, and other harrowing experiences. The author does not shy away from depicting the raw and challenging realities Brie faces, making this a particularly intense read. However, Griffin’s unwavering presence offers a beacon of hope. His commitment to helping Brie heal is both touching and inspiring, as he stands by her side through her journey of recovery.
Ultimately, "Broken Innocence" is a story of survival, healing, and the transformative power of love and friendship. The novel artfully captures Brie's path from brokenness to strength, emphasizing that with support and inner determination, it is possible to reclaim one’s life after trauma. This book is recommended for readers who appreciate emotionally charged stories of resilience and redemption.

The book opens to such a traumatic situation that has Brie being forced to deal with so much and Griffin struggling to deal with his emotions from what is going on. The story has you experiencing so many emotions throughout. One moment you could be feeling the pain that Brie has endured to laughing at some smartass comment. Then there is the love story between Brie and Griffin. Their connection is an amazing one that spans years. I liked how you get a glimpse at how they meet and other times of encounters from their past with each other. The way Andi Rhodes has written their story flows so very well from beginning to end. There are very heavy situations that happen that it’s nice when it lightens up and continues to keep your attention. Absolutely great read and great second book in the series that it does leave you wanting more.
