Pride and Prejudice meets Mission: Impossible in this Christian Regency Suspense with slow-burn romance and a touch of the supernatural.

Recovered from her harrowing marriage, Lady Wynwood's peace shatters as a nefarious secret society linked to her past emerges. She seeks the aid of Mr. Sol Drydale, an old friend with ties to a shadowy arm of the government.

They gather a circle of trusted individuals with unique skills:

  • A botanist with deadly aim with a bow and arrows
  • An unconventionally trained female medic and chemist in a field dominated by men
  • A cat burglar who also happens to be a viscount’s son
  • A spy searching for answers to the mysterious death of his brother
  • An ex-soldier haunted by regret and self-loathing
  • A human lie detector desperately protecting lies of her own
  • The most covert phantom agent working for the Crown
  • All led by a nobleman keeping dangerous secrets (who feels like he’s wrangling cats)

To protect their loved ones, they must race to stop a treasonous brotherhood, whose dark secrets could enable Napoleon to win the war.

Lady Wynwood’s Spies, Volume 1: Archer

An ex-spy and a spinster botanist must find a murderer—with ties to both their families—whose uncanny alchemy could turn the tides against the war with Napoleon.

Lady Wynwood’s Spies, Volume 2: Berserker

The team searches for their missing comrade before a crazed murderer finds him first.

Lady Wynwood’s Spies, Volume 3: Aggressor

When French spies land on British soil to steal the ingredient for a powerful alchemical potion, Lady Wynwood’s team falls under attack from the toxins they unleash.

PLEASE NOTE: Like the novels published in Jane Austen’s time, this is a novel in multiple parts, projected to be 12 volumes. Each volume has a completed story arc, but these are NOT a stand-alone novel and the story continues in each volume.

Wow! What a banger of a series opener! Lady Wynwood’s Spies Vols. 1–3 completely drew me in with a clever Jane Austen-meets-James Bond romantic suspense feel. Think spies, heart-stopping action, intriguing characters, a captivating plot, plus a touch of romance & faith. Fair warning: each book ends on a cliffhanger, so stopping at the first one isn’t happening.

Vol. 1: Archer - We meet Lady Laura Wynwood & her niece Phoebe, a spinster with a talent for archery, along with Mr. Michael Coulton-Jones, an ex-spy searching for answers about his brother’s death. Their investigation leads into a shadowy underworld tied to Napoleon & a dangerous experimental substance. I loved the enemies-to-lovers tension, the nonstop action, & the intriguing plot. That ending completely hooked me.

Vol. 2: Berserker - Picks up right where the first left off with danger escalating. Lady Wynwood’s home becomes the base for a ragtag spy crew, including brilliant eleven-year-old twins & a close friend with government ties. Relationships deepen, Laura’s past unfolds, & the action never lets up.

Vol. 3: Aggressor - The team goes on the offensive as more secrets behind Apothecary Jack & his network come to light. With betrayals, hidden symbols, & rising stakes, the tension builds into a race against time. I found myself flying through the pages & loved the budding romances woven throughout.

I loved how each story built on the last with those cliffhanger endings. The clever plot, engaging characters, dastardly villains, & rich Regency setting make this a standout series. I can’t wait for the next volume!

I listened to the audiobook version & enjoyed the virtual voice. It had a pleasant tone & was easy to listen to. I did miss the emotions a human voice would lend to this story.

The virtual voice was pretty good.

I have really enjoyed listening to this series. Though I do wish it was not narrated with virtual voice. Also, there are many moments in the story where I can tell it is not authentic to the era that is being written in. This may be an issue for historical fiction.. Otherwise I love the Christian content! I love the storyline. The adventure is very, very engaging and I can’t wait to see how it continues to develop in the other volumes.

Really interesting and detailed story
