When Mike Underwood’s father has to be placed in care, the new State facilities seem the obvious choice. They are bright and spacious, staffed by friendly helpers and are far cheaper than the Private Sector.
After a few days, Bill, Mike’s Dad is not so sure. He is certain that someone is trying to kill him. The problem is he is old and suffering from dementia. Who is going to believe him?
Mike, a police detective, is certainly not convinced, but he comes into contact with a woman who has written an article condemning the new scheme. He finds out that since publishing her story she has been threatened and tortured, so Mike begins his own enquiries. After he is also warned off further investigation he begins to realise the stakes are much higher than he could possibly have imagined.
