This book is set in a post-modern world that is broadly similar to our own, with various Nordic and Celtic influences. Society as we know it has long since vanished, the natural world has reasserted itself, so leaving behind just a few isolated pockets of human existence, teetering on the verge of extinction.

The interconnected stories in this book are diverse, and span several decades. They range from an adventure to find a fallen star, hunting a mythical beast, building up the settlement, and exploring the wider world. As with Peter’s first two novels, this book is part guide to survival, and part guide to homesteading and living off the land. This book is set just after the end of the first two, which converged at the end. All three books are told without specific dialogue, as if being recounted around a campfire by an old friend. This style of very descriptive storytelling also reflects the author’s preferred means of communication as an autistic person, being direct, detailed, and to the point.

A new beginning

The Steading Saga: The First Days of Mankind by Peter Wood is a great post- apocalyptic survival Science Fiction. Aubrey Parsons did a great job with the narration. The story is entertaining, thrilling, interesting, engaging, exciting, adventurous, and more. The Steading Saga: The First Days of Manking is the third book in The Steading Trilogy. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. highly recommended

A Strong Finish to the Trilogy

A satisfying conclusion to the series. The level of detail on homesteading is genuinely impressive, and it adds so much depth to the story. As always, Aubrey Parsons elevates the entire experience—his narration makes this trilogy shine. Overall 4.25/5.

Fantastic narration and story. Comes together perfectly with the other two books. Just get them all and read/listen to them.

Wow! Great conclusion!

This is the last in the trilogy series by Peter Wood and it did not disappoint! Again he has such a way with how he tells stories that just keeps you wanting more! The way he write and tells these stories is so intriguing and not like anything I’ve really read before. The apocalyptic story concludes and Peter just gives so much detail to the story and the lives of those surviving the world. Again Aubrey Parsons was the perfect match to tell the story and was a great addition to the story itself. Very well done all around!
