Welcome to Silver Pines—where the coffee’s strong, the locals are quirky, and even the furniture has secrets.

After years away, Clare Garner is back in her hometown, happily restoring antique pieces and running her family’s furniture gallery. With her high school sweetheart, Jackson Barrett, by her side and a big corporate project on the horizon, life is finally falling into place.

That is, until Blake Catalano—her swoon-worthy college ex—waltzes back into town with a smile and something he’s definitely not telling her.

Things take a sharp turn when a body turns up, and suddenly both Blake and Jackson are suspects in the murder. With tensions rising and the rumor mill in overdrive, Clare must untangle the mystery—before someone else takes a permanent break from small-town charm.

Perfect for fans of slow-burn romance, small-town drama, and mysteries wrapped in charm, Murder at Maisie’s is the cozy escape you’ve been craving.

Murder at Maisie's is my first book by Lyla Blue, and I am looking forward to continuing the series! This small town cozy mystery, with a touch of slow-burn second chance romance, was an entertaining whodunit that I was able to finish in a day.

The residents of Silver Pines, especially Clare, Jackson, and their friends, are delightfully relatable and a touch off beat, making a perfect set up for future books. The plot was entertaining, clues cleverly laid out, and overall, made for an enjoyable fall afternoon.

I love a duet narration and with Sebastian York and Eleanor Caudill performing, Murder at Maisie's did not disappoint! They brought the characters and the town of Silver Pines to life. Both narrators did a fabulous job creating distinct voices for the characters, making the story easy to follow on audio. It may seem like a trivial detail to some, but I enjoyed the sound effect of a cell phone buzzing during one of the scenes.

This audiobook is sure to be enjoyed by cozy mystery fans looking for a new series!

I listened to Murder at Maisie’s on audio through Blue Nose Audio and had such a great time with it. This one really delivers on that small town cozy vibe while still keeping the tension running just under the surface. I loved how the mystery unfolded piece by piece. Just when I thought I had something figured out, another detail slipped in and shifted everything. It kept me guessing in the best way.

The setting feels lived-in and warm, the kind of place where everyone’s connected, for better or worse, and that made the stakes feel personal. The narration fit the tone beautifully and made it so easy to sink right into the world. There’s something about the way the suspense and the everyday moments were blended that made this feel charming and intriguing at the same time.

If you’re in the mood for a cozy mystery with twists that sneak up on you, this is one I’d definitely recommend.

Claire Garner lives in Silver Pines and runs a custom furniture business. She also loves restoring antique furniture and hopes to purchase an armoire at an estate sale. When she goes to see the item upstairs she finds the armoire damaged and inside is the body of a woman whom Claire is bidding against in a major corporate project. The suspects turn out to be her high school ex, Jackson Barrett, and Blake Catalano, her ex from college. Knowing them so well she knows neither of them could do it and she conducts her own investigation to prove she right.
A great start to a series. I enjoyed the setting and the town and all the interesting characters. The performance was also enjoyable.
