Ryan Richmond and I have spent every Christmas since we were kids in the same snowy Alpine village. As we grew, so did our chemistry.
On our eighteenth winter, we made a ‘festive friends-with-benefits’ pact: take advantage of our limited time together, then wave goodbye with no strings attached.
Those two weeks were the highlight of my year. Until, without warning, Ryan stopped coming here for the holidays. It broke my heart, and I’m determined not to waste another winter pining over him.
Ryan
The best things about Christmas are snow, skiing, and sneaking around with Kayla McInnes.
My oldest friend is funny, adventurous, and gorgeous. She's everything I'd want in a partner, if only she didn’t live half a world away.
We always agreed a long-distance relationship was pointless, but saying goodbye got harder and harder. I thought if I stopped visiting, I’d get over her. But I was wrong.
I can’t stay away anymore. And I’m hoping this year we can make winter last forever.

I think for me what took me out of the story a little was the flashbacks. I get why it was done and mostly it helped paint the picture of these two and their friendship and budding romance from many years ago but some of the scenes were just ok and didnt help elevate the story for me. Again it's more of a personal preference and I understand why the author did it. We had a lot of things to catch up on to see how Kayla and Ryan got themselves in this mess. I don't know how these two had it go on for so long to be honest, I would have been so heartbroken each time, but I attach too easily so there is that haha. I liked the dynamics though when they were together, how they couldn't help it. The steam was great but this time was different, the feelings got in the way and Ryan finally got his head out of his you know what. He had everything he wanted right there on the beautiful mountain with Kayla, he just had to see it for himself after he lost her this last time.
I thought Kayla was a spunky FMC, she wouldn't take crap from anyone haha. I liked the sneaking and fun they had, the playing out their fantasies and kinks, it was a very open and honest relationship in that regard. The whole not talking though in between trips was crazy and then Ryan ghosting her was worse. I am glad she stood her ground for a bit but Ryan wore her down haha. Heart wants what the heart wants! I liked the cameos we got from the others, how Ryan got some good advice from people and finally jumped into the unknown when he realized how unhappy he was. I loved when he made the leap the interactions he had with Kayla and trying to really build their relationship from the ground up, how relationships normally start haha.
Narration was great, I have listened to both of these narrators before and I appreciate the female narrator doing so many accents well (I am not sure of her origin but I have heard her do both American and Scottishand British and some others pretty well) and she really did Kayla a service and did a good job with the inner turmoil and frustration, the sadness and happiness, the snark haha and everything in between. I thought the male narrator did a good job with Ryan as well, bringing his stubborn streak and relentlessness to life. Also his naivety and when he finally had his epiphany, he did a good job exuded the feelings and being nervous how Kayla would react when he brought up his idea/scheme haha. Great job all around on the narration!
Liked book 1 more but enjoyed this one too!

This was perfect!
What an absolutely beautiful story. A true “it’s always been you” and “if he wanted to he would” one. I caught myself tearing up throughout with the emotional ride Kayla and Ryan went on going from strictly a holiday romance only, to connecting outside the Christmas season and seeing what happened. Not only was this sweet and emotional but it was so hot too!
The audio was seriously perfect! The fact it was in duet made it even better! Shane East and Zara Hampton-Brown did a phenomenal job together and I loved that we got a bit of Adam Gold and Evelyn Rose as Cam and Hannah! I’ll definitely be revisiting this!
Such a great holiday duet!

▪︎Childhood sweethearts
This book starts as a direct overlap of the book 'Can I Tell You Something?'
I read that book a ways back, so thankfully I didn't feel board.
There is not as much plot as the first book, but the spice is hot.
