Some parts made me uncomfortable because they hit close to home, which I took as a sign the book was doing its job. I finished it feeling calmer and more reflective, not “fixed,” but more open to moving forward at my own pace.

I like this because self-improvement is only really possible once you get out of your own way. If you've ever felt like your progress is super slow despite being disciplined and repeatedly taking action, consider looking deeper inward. This book shows you exactly how to do that. The only thing I would note is the narrator sounds a little rushed and you can hear the sound impacting the walls.

Very detailed

First of all, this was a great audiobook on the topic. It gives spot-on perspective and strategies for using past experiences as opportunities to reflect and grow rather than allowing them to hold you back. My only two notes were 1) it leans heavily on Dale Carnegie’s work, and 2) there were a few places where the audio processing got a little ’tinny’.

I didn’t have a problem with leaning as heavily on Carnegie as the author did for a couple of reasons. The first was that the author gave attribution whereas others may have played it off as their own ideas… I respect that. The other was that the Carnegie references were often followed by a reference to a recent study or article that backs up the claim. This was refreshing because the author didn’t expect the listener to take anything at face value.

Overall, a very good audiobook.

I recommend it
