CHENGDU CHENGD ON’T THE HORROR OF TEACHING ENGLISH IN CHINA FACELESS FACE PROLOUGE Chablis a 21 year old girl who had just graduated from college and thought it to be a good idea to pay off her 50,000 student loan debt by teaching English in foreign countries. She thought it would be a great way to see the world and get paid for it. But there should be some safeguards to make sure that everything is on the up and up. Remember Americans are hated around the world and mistreatment of others, especially others you work with is a cultural norm around the world. Know any nurses in America? They say that nurses eat their young meaning the nursing students are put through a hazing period until they graduate and that’s America. Chablis was picked up at the airport in Shanghai and was supposed to be teaching English in Chengdu the richest city in China and the cultural hub. It has been said that when China was being invaded by the communists and Japanese many fled to Chengdu with the riches of China. Chablis was looking forward to the best tasting and spiciest street food as advertised on Bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmer and on the internet and when you look up Chengdu on the internet you only find out it’s a great place to be. Chablis a blonde haired blue eyed Hippie chick from Philadelphia was looking forward to the cultural hub of China, you know opera, plays, musicals and as a working teacher there with money all that China had to offer. I’m her doctor and I told her all those things and that as a blonde haired blue eyed beauty, super intelligent, a singing sensation and the author of a book they would love her there. Friends who were there and a friend Chris K who teaches in Korea and Japan verified all this. None of it was true. They classify over there in China Chengdu the city and 100 miles around it that is rural or the sticks. That means exactly that they dropped her off to nothing that she expected or was told. They baited and switched her. They dropped her off at a dilapidated moldy falling apart school 100 miles from nowhere, Google maps and the gps didn’t even work there to find the grocery store. She was the only American. The Chinese people hate Americans. She was supposed to have a handler (that’s what they call someone who takes care of animals) or a 1 on 1 to help her in a foreign land, you know to help find food and water and other luxuries. They did not provide one at all. No principal or boss greeted her. In china they feel that the new teacher should ingratiate herself to the other teachers to find out even what to do. They felt that her, an Americans presence there as a teacher of English makes them loose face because it makes it look like they don’t know how to do it. They would not talk to her. This is an example of faceless face. Poor baby alone in china the students were miscreants beating each others’ heads into the tiled floors and the teachers hated her white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes; besides the fact that her presence there embarrassed them and they did everything they could to discredit her. She was miserable, alone, depressed and couldn’t eat. She never even found the grocery store and lived off starvation, tofu snacks and bottled water.
